American President Trump’s brief encounter with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in North Korea’s fortified demilitarized zone on Sunday (30/6/19) seen as a major move to bring two warring American and North Korean diplomats to the negotiating table. The two leaders agreed to re-start the negotiations.

Greeted by an agile smiling Mr. Kim, the president stepped at 3:46 p.m. local time and walked about 20 paces to the base of a building on the North Korean side for starting long stalled talks in an unprecedented friendly manner.

“It is good to see you again,” an excited hopeful Mr. Kim told the president . “I never expected to meet you in this place.”

“Big moment, big moment,” Mr. Trump replied back

Mr. Trump soon after escorted Mr. Kim over the line into South Korea, slipping inside the building known as Freedom House for a private conversation along with President Moon Jae-in of South Korea. The meeting lasted over an hour

Mr. Trump said he would invite Mr. Kim to visit him at the White House.

“This has a lot of significance because it means that we want to bring an end to the unpleasant past and try to create a new future,” Mr. Kim told reporters. “So it’s a very courageous and determined act.”

“Stepping across that line was a great honor,” Mr. Trump replied. “A lot of progress has been made, a lot of friendships have been made, and this has been in particular a great friendship.”

Mr. Trump clarified he and Mr. Kim had agreed to designate negotiators to resume talks in the next few weeks. The American team would be led by Stephen Biegun, the special envoy , however the North Korean side head was yet to be announced.

Trump had already plans to meet Kim Jong in DMZ during his trip to South Korea but he protrayed it as a spontaneous decision in his usual flamboyant manner.  Source  N.Y.T

Background to Korean dispute.,P

it is necessary to know background to Korean dispute visa vis Japan and recently with USA.

Korea was ruled by Japanese Imperial Government under Japan –Korea annexation treaty in 1910 until the second world war in 1945, resulting in South Korea and North Korea. separated by DMZ .South Korea being patronized by Japan and United states and North Korea by Soviet Union and China. Later The Soviet Union influence wanned and China remains the sole mentor .

Recently there were positive efforts by the leaders of both South Korea and North Korea to discuss inter-Korea relations and to take positive steps towards denuclearization.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in of South Korea met for 3 days summit in Pyongyang on 18th September 2018 to deliberate on reunification of two Koreas. A delgation of 50 leaders in business and politics, sports culture from South Korea met the counter part from North Korea and recognized the importance of fostering trust a common vision for building good relations and thus lay strong foundation for ultimate reunification.

Trump visualized the role of United States to ease the long standing dispute and thus supported Moon Jae –in’s efforts for reconciliation .

Trump’s Gamble

Trump virtually gambled that the gesture of amity could break the nuclear logjam underlying his faith in the  prowess of his diplomatic skills even to deal with kooky persons like Kim Jong-un.

More than halfway through his term, Mr. Trump is hoping against hope that a resolution to the vexed problem apart from bringing much awaited peace finally, could also yield dividends to his re-election campaign.

Even a modest success in reconciliation with North Korea would mean a lot to uphold his grip over his critics who are hell bent on not giving any credit to Trump for reducing the tension with North Korea.

Although Mr. Trump was confident that nobody can deny the fact that during his tenure North Korea has suspended nuclear tests, released detained American soldiers and handed over to the United States the remains of American soldiers killed in the war.

“There’s no reason to regard the current situation as a stalemate in the peace process on the peninsula just because the pace has remained slow,” said South Korean President Moon Jae-in. All others agreed broadly that tension has reduced in the region and Mr Moon praised Mr Trump as “the peace maker of the Korean Penunsula”

The Singapore meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Kim was a step towards reconciliation and some possible promises to eliminate Pyongyang’s nuclear arsenal. Their second meeting in Hanoi was complete failure as Kim did not comply with the promises made in first meeting.

The stalemate continued for a long time.

But suddenly in the recent past weeks Mr Kim exchanged some letters with Mr Trump promising some positive upbeat in the diplomatic relations.   source   Politico  Times of India

Conclusions.

The Bromance between two leaders finally made possible the third meeting in North Korea on 30th June 2019. hoping to resolve the long standing conflict amicably.

Mr. Kim said he knew nothing about a possible meeting until the president’s tweet.

“I don’t think this kind of surprise meeting would have happened without the excellent personal relationship between your excellency and me,” he told Mr. Trump in Freedom House.

Though the path to peace remains slow but both leaders show renewed enthusiasm and determination to overcome the fiery rhetoric and long standing animosity with peace and love letters .

B/ About 12 million girls are married before the age of 18 every year.

C/ Approximately 6,500 to 7000 adolescent girls (aged 15 to 24) get infected with HIV every week.

When adolescent girls around the world are educated, amazing things start to happen. Poverty goes down, economies grow, families get stronger, babies are born healthier, and the world, by all accounts, gets better. But progress doesn’t happen overnight.

That is why the Obama Foundation’s Global Girls Alliance program is teaming up with GoFundMe to encourage people around the world to take action in support of girls education. We are providing a platform for grassroots leaders to seek funding for projects that can break down the physical, cultural, and financial walls that keep adolescent girls from getting an education and fulfilling their potential.”

A skilled Girl Force , one more Independant Organization,

is working hard to bring together partners and stakeholders together to absolve most pressing needs to train the girls for right skills to take up gainful employment .

This is stupendous task as 600 million adolescent girls will walk into the world’s workforce in the next 10 years. With 90% of those from the developing countries ,where low pay ,exploitation and human trafficking are some of the other challenges to be addressed to simultaneously.

The Govt Of India under illustrous PM Mr Nrender Modi has ,for instance ,started an ambitious campaign “Beti Bachao Beti Padav” a few years back to empower girls with education and safe environment to be economically independent and thus leading progressive lives to build a prosperous strong nation.

Girls are moving neck to neck to men in almost all walks of life to alleviate the poverty of the masses.

It is worth mentioning here that India as Country has been fighting the menace of conservative coercive social dogmatic male dominated society to enforce girls and boys both for free education through different Government Schemes since Independence itself resulting in the upliftment of vast educated women work force in all sections of society.

It is better to quote our great leader ISTPrime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru , who revered women power as essential to propel the society and Nation to great  heights.

Pt Nehru said ” the condition of Nation can be explained by looking at the status of women /girl.”

Conclusions

Every individual across the world can make a difference by associating one way or the other to embolden the spirit of Girls’ power to make a better beautiful world.

Some of the following actions could be thought of.

  1. With Social media on the upsurge one can easilyassociate with accounts of Girls saving organisations .

One prominent organization is Global Fund For Women    ,an organization investing in resources in women oriented movements. One can contribute monetarily or otherwise to work in different schemes for educatingskill improvement of Girls.

  1. .Relate the amazing great stories of your family women members to the next generation to induce and motivate them n for doing better in theirlives. . Quote their bright achievements as examples to excel. Grandmothers stories can be great tranquilisers.
  2. Yank out your old albums and frame some outstanding photos of your illustrious forefathers to apprise your girls boys of their valour stories.
  3. Be a philontropist.

Always be sporty to donate a small sum for the welfare of Girls and women organizations of world repute. Your small mite may contribute to the fortunes of many.

  1. Make a resolution to fight for the safety of Girls and women from sexual beasts. Rape is a great menace in the society of the world ,why not to address it seriously through by highlighting the causes at the national international forums.

According to the recent research from the university of Essex ,the more you nag your daughter the more successful she  will be in her life.

The nagging from primary parents, Father or Mother only can be more effective to achieve successful results .Expressing high expectations leads to more successful careers.

So be a positive Parent.

AFGHANISTAN IN TURMOIL

Assault on City of Ghazni

Afghanistan continues to be in turmoil ,having no respite whatsoever, the latest  assault (midnight11th August 2018) on the city of Ghazni, engulfing almost all city’s 19 districts ,was most planned lethal operation on Nationwide scale by Taliban.

The City of Ghazni ,less than 100 miles from the capital Kabul ,was literary burning ,as Taliban laid siege to the city in a surprise attack, pounding with bomb craters capturing the districts ,thereby ravaging the provincial capital city to shreds.

The carnage and devastating war remains in the city of 1,50,000 were eye sore for the Afghans .

The Afghan soldiers numbering 1500 no match to the massive onslaught of Taliban and struggling to contain the resurgent Taliban.

As per TIME an average of 7 adults and two children out of ten were killed every day in the past six months of this year.

The figures show 2018 as the deadliest year of the war.

The battle of Ghazni did not come out of the blue.

Five of the US special forces teams along with 150 Afghan commands had left the City to fight ISISK—ISISKhorasan, an offshoot of Syrian based Terrorist group operating in Afghanistan since 2015,. ISISK had terrorised the people in Nangarhar provinces ,through executions , attacking Govt buildings , including a suicide bombings.

The group conducted suicide boming at a Kabul education centre killing dozens of people instantly.

The joint operation carried successfully to quell the ISISK attack by killing around 200 fighters and freeing the occupied territories.                                                          Source Time

The Taliban took advantage of the absence of US special forces in the city of Ghazni and sneaked in stealthily with weapons and fighters with the connivance of some security guards guarding the city borders.

The Taliban insurgents attacked Govt buildings, destroyed Telecommunication center, burnt down the TV station in one go, thus bringing the throbbing City to a grinding halt.

The US special operations Command responded instantly by deploying 12 –man Green Beret Teams from Ist special Forces group along with Afghan Forces ,knowing well to take alternative longer route because of land mines being planted along the main  road to the Ghazni city.

The US and Afghan joint forces fought relentlessly for five consecutive days to inflict severe damages on the Taliban vehicles and fighters and occupied the make shift post on the outskirts of the city.

The Taliban fighters retreated and the fighting had died down significantly.

The Afghan Soldiers supported by American special forces aided by Fighters -16, MQ Reaper aerial drones fought   fiercely and routed the enemy completely within five days. The Afghan Forces and American special forces of joint operation pushed deeper into the city further to drive out the Taliban completely from the city areas occupied temporarily.

Nearly 226 Taliban insurgents were killed in the operation .

“Tactically, operationally and strategically, the Taliban achieved nothing with this failed attack except another eye-catching, but inconsequential headline,” said U.S. Army Lieut. Colonel Martin O’Donnell, spokesman for the U.S.-led international military coalition in Kabul

Brigadier General Dadan Lawang, the commander of the Afghan National Army’s 203rd Corps, said that 112 Afghan military and police were killed, and 56 were wounded. He said his team was reviewing its security posture to guard against future attacks. “We need to ensure this never happens again,” he says.                                            source Time

 Conclusion

Afghanistan is rattling with war for over two decades with little or no hope of peace.

The Trump administration’s long military strategy  defending the population areas ,leaving remote countryside to Taliban does not seem to be in tune with ground realties.

The President of Afghanistan Mr Ashraf Ghani on August 17 blamed Pakistan for the Ghazni attack by Taliban. “ the Taliban fighters are streaming back across Pakistan borders.” He said angrily looking at the devastations caused in the city of Ghazni.

The Taliban need to be annihilated for good.

The Afghanistan needs to seal borders completely and through diplomatic channels bring pressure on Pakistan through other Muslim friendly countries to desist from assisting Taliban .

Trump needs to seize the opportunity to usher peace to the ravaged country by providing technical  assistance in insulating borders to stop insurgents crossing over to Afghanistan apart from the current military partnership already in place.
