11th October 2012 was declared and inaugurated as International Day of Girls by the United General Assembly and is being celebrated with great fervour to instil confidence and empower the Girls of the world with education and skills of employment .
The situation as on today we need to know and contribute our mite to improve the prospects of girls power to an independent respectable lives.
A / 98 million girls drop out of secondary schools.
B/ About 12 million girls are married before the age of 18 every year.
C/ Approximately 6,500 to 7000 adolescent girls (aged 15 to 24) get infected with HIV every week.
Hence looking at the above statistics available, suggests the grave situation, and needs concrete steps to arrest the rot and improvise on continuous basis till the problem is completely eradicated.
According to the United Nations the day “ aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges the girls face while promoting girls’ empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights.”
Global Girls Alliance
Yesterday on International Day of the Girl, Michelle Obama said “ I’m proud to announce the Obama Foundation’s launch of the Global Girls Alliance, an effort to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, so that they can support their families, communities, and countries.”
Michille Obama with Girls of the world |
“When adolescent girls around the world are educated, amazing things start to happen. Poverty goes down, economies grow, families get stronger, babies are born healthier, and the world, by all accounts, gets better. But progress doesn’t happen overnight.
That is why the Obama Foundation’s Global Girls Alliance program is teaming up with GoFundMe to encourage people around the world to take action in support of girls education. We are providing a platform for grassroots leaders to seek funding for projects that can break down the physical, cultural, and financial walls that keep adolescent girls from getting an education and fulfilling their potential.”
A skilled Girl Force , one more Independant Organization,
is working hard to bring together partners and stakeholders together to absolve most pressing needs to train the girls for right skills to take up gainful employment .
This is stupendous task as 600 million adolescent girls will walk into the world’s workforce in the next 10 years. With 90% of those from the developing countries ,where low pay ,exploitation and human trafficking are some of the other challenges to be addressed to simultaneously.
The Govt Of India under illustrous PM Mr Nrender Modi has ,for instance ,started an ambitious campaign “Beti Bachao Beti Padav” a few years back to empower girls with education and safe environment to be economically independent and thus leading progressive lives to build a prosperous strong nation.
Girls are moving neck to neck to men in almost all walks of life to alleviate the poverty of the masses.
It is worth mentioning here that India as Country has been fighting the menace of conservative coercive social dogmatic male dominated society to enforce girls and boys both for free education through different Government Schemes since Independence itself resulting in the upliftment of vast educated women work force in all sections of society.
It is better to quote our great leader ISTPrime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru , who revered women power as essential to propel the society and Nation to great heights.
Pt Nehru said ” the condition of Nation can be explained by looking at the status of women /girl.”
Conclusions
Every individual across the world can make a difference by associating one way or the other to embolden the spirit of Girls’ power to make a better beautiful world.
Some of the following actions could be thought of.
- With Social media on the upsurge one can easilyassociate with accounts of Girls saving organisations .
One prominent organization is Global Fund For Women ,an organization investing in resources in women oriented movements. One can contribute monetarily or otherwise to work in different schemes for educatingskill improvement of Girls.
- .Relate the amazing great stories of your family women members to the next generation to induce and motivate them n for doing better in theirlives. . Quote their bright achievements as examples to excel. Grandmothers stories can be great tranquilisers.
- Yank out your old albums and frame some outstanding photos of your illustrious forefathers to apprise your girls boys of their valour stories.
- Be a philontropist.
Always be sporty to donate a small sum for the welfare of Girls and women organizations of world repute. Your small mite may contribute to the fortunes of many.
- Make a resolution to fight for the safety of Girls and women from sexual beasts. Rape is a great menace in the society of the world ,why not to address it seriously through by highlighting the causes at the national international forums.
According to the recent research from the university of Essex ,the more you nag your daughter the more successful she will be in her life.
The nagging from primary parents, Father or Mother only can be more effective to achieve successful results .Expressing high expectations leads to more successful careers.
So be a positive Parent.
