AMIDST THE CHINAR TREES

Vividly I remember

Walking

Amidst the Chinar trees

The cool breeze

sweeping

overhead me

crackling twigs leaves

Underfoot

I scurried through

shimmering shadows

Pungent

with Autumn air

The golden leaves

sliding all across

in a forest of

downy flake

I view long stretches

Of lush verdure

With excitement and

Pleasure.

The snow melt gurgling

streams

Coursing rocky boulders

Causing

a  musical churgling

the kashmir birds

kasture ,bulbul, bill-bi–chur

  huddling in herds

chirping in symphony

 a lullaby.

  A siesta

      under the sprawling trunk

       on golden downy hay

     made my pretty

day .

  1. Chinar is a leitmotif of Kashmir ….whenever we see a chinar….Kashmir with its verdure & whatever one associates with it …..spreads out in your mental canvas…
    …..The mention of Bil- be-chur,Bulbul & Kostur ….the birds…specific to our motherland are immensely…
    nostalgic .!!!
    Superbly done …Thanks !!!

  2. Again a beautiful poem with refreshing memories of childhood and youthful days in Kashmir. It is not only a poem but the emotional and inner thoughts of the author. Sir thanks for the poem and refreshing our memories as well.

  3. Though I have never visited Kashmir, but the beauty can be felt through your poem.

And wherever it may be, the breeze among the trees, the sunrise midst the hills, the birds all these things brings an amazing feeling from within..
